Dongwon Home Food Wins Presidential Award-Winning Hanwoo for 98.64 Million Won… 16th Consecutive Year of Purchase
All-time high price at the National Hanwoo Performance Evaluation Competition, up 86.0% from 53.04 million won 10 years ago
Dongwon Home Food won the bid for the Presidential Award-winning Hanwoo at the 29th National Hanwoo Performance Evaluation Competition for 98.64 million won. This is the highest price in the competition's history, 4.63 million won higher than last year's 94.01 million won. Through its online livestock wholesale mall, Geumcheon Meat, Dongwon Home Food has purchased Presidential Award-winning cattle for 16 consecutive years, from 2011 to this year.
The winning animal, which was put up for auction at the Eumseong Livestock Auction Market of the Nonghyup in Eumseong, North Chungcheong Province on the 4th, was submitted by Lee Byeong-hee, CEO of Sulmoe Farm in Gimhae, South Gyeongsang Province. With a shipping weight of 866 kg and a carcass weight of 548 kg, it received a Grade 1++ rating for meat quality and an A rating for meat yield. The loin cross-sectional area was 165 cm², and the winning bid was 180,000 won per kg of carcass.

Then, what changes have occurred compared to the winning bid price 10 years ago?In 2017, Dongwon Home Food won the bid for the Presidential Award-winning cattle for 63.36 million won. At the time, the carcass weight was 528 kg, and the winning price was 120,000 won per kg. This year, the carcass weight of the award-winning cattle increased by 20 kg (3.8%) compared to then, and the winning price per kg rose by 60,000 won (50%). Consequently, the winning bid per head is3cloth5.28 million won (55.7%)It increased.
The winning bid per animal was 59.88 million won in 2019, the lowest among the last 10 competitions. After rebounding to 62.59 million won in 2020, it recorded 70.46 million won in 2021, 81.77 million won in 2022, and 90.58 million won in 2023. It rose to 93 million won in 2024 and 94.01 million won in 2025, reaching 98.64 million won this year.

Dongwon Home Food secured the cattle that placed 10th and 12th in this year's competition, along with the one that won the Presidential Award. Both animals were of the same 1++A grade as the Presidential Award winner, and were auctioned off at 43,199 won and 37,899 won per kg of carcass, respectively. Dongwon Home Food plans to introduce the acquired Hanwoo through Geumcheon Meat and distribution networks including butcher shops, restaurants, and wholesalers nationwide.
